Today’s update brings an enhancement to the My Performance Page and the concept of functional roles.

Changes:

  • Allow users to be granted new access rights: Admin, Manager and Standard.
  • Allow managers with Data Visibility set to “everyone” to see the My Performance page through other user’s eyes, effectively granting them access to another’s performance data (for billables).
  • The cards on the My Performance Page now allow you to drill down into the data.
  • Made the filters on each page default to showing as opposed to hidden.

Functional Roles – User management overhaul

Admin’s now have the opportunity to edit a user’s functional roles. You can access this functionality by going to Manage Users in the main menu.

The functional roles dictate what pages and functionality a person can access in the software.

The roles are as follows:

Standard – a standard user, such as a jnr, solicitor or partner without a team. These users will generally have access to their own data for the purposes of tracking their targets and monitoring their general performance.

Manager – A team leader role who needs access to extra functionality, such as the ability to see the Performance page through other people’s eyes, so that they can monitor the performance of the people in their team.

Admins – Grants access to administrative functions, like being able to manage users.

In the future we will lean heavily on these roles to enable security over functionality that shouldn’t be gifted to standard users. We will also structure functionality to make it clear what is, and is not, locked by functional controls.

At present all chart pages are locked to Standard and Manager users, with Admin (only) users not seeing those pages. Admin controls are locked to admin roles and Managers and Standard users cannot see these.

A person can sit in multiple roles at the same time.

Data visibility – Still important

It is important to note that, just because a person is a manager and can access the functionality doesn’t mean they can see everyone. Who’s data they have access to is still dictated by the data visibility selection.

This enables someone to have manager access but for their view of data to be limited. Eventually this will be helpful to lock managers to only seeing their own team’s performance and data.

The My Performance Page – See through another’s eyes.

To enable managers with “everyone” data visibility to monitor another’s performance we have enhanced the My Performance page to include a selection drop down for a manager to select another user. Once selected the page will switch to showing the other user’s performance information. All drill downs and charts work as normal but for the user selected.

We hope this will enable managers to monitor jnr member performance who are KPId on Billables and promote greater clarity and great conversations around said performance.

That was a long one and I apologise but we did quite a bit this week so there was a lot to talk about.

See you all next week with new functionality.
