We are back and we have a whole bunch of exciting work in progress. These releases should come thick and fast from here on in so stay tuned and if you have any ideas for things you would love to see in the software please let me know.
Trust Balances in Unrealised Cashflow
For our customers connected to Smokeball we have released a toggle on the unrealised cashflow page which will allow you to filter the results to show only matters with a positive trust balance, or only matters without trust balance. This will enable you to track down moneys that can be collected immediately from trust, but also track down any matters with moneys outstanding that have no trust balance.
The exportable report now also includes a trust balance column and a trust balance filter.

For our Actionstep customers we are in the works of getting access to this information for you guys and hopefully we’ll have that finished shortly. So stay tuned.
Xero Integration for Salaries
We have completed our first non-PMS integration with Xero Payroll.
The integration will cost an additional $5 (+GST) per month to use and will keep all your salaries up to date for the use of targets and any future reporting.
You can find the integration under “integrations” for any user with the “Subscription Admin” user permission.
Xero Leave (coming soon)
We will be upgrading this integration shortly to also import leave balances for employees which will allow you to pro-rata targets by leave taken and review targets with leave as a context to the actuals.
Daily Performance
This was a release that came out late last year and should already be in your menus (for Manager level users).
This chart is a bit of a work in progress. We acknowledge that it might be a little overwhelming and, if you’re not careful, quickly turns into a chart salad. When used carefully, it can be a great way to get comparative data on employee and team performance.
For hints and tips as to how to use this chart please feel free to contact us. Else be aware we will be making changes to make this chart easier to use.
Notifications
We have implemented a notification feature. At present this just has access to system notifications which alert users to things like expired tokens. In the future we hope to enhance this system with a lot of lovely functionality supporting good practice.
Sort by “referrer” on the company dashboard
We know how important it is to be able to track cashflow incoming from various referral sources.
For our Smokeball clients this will come as a default standard on your dashboard.
For our Actionstep clients you will need an admin user in your Workzilla org to help set this up by going to “Company Customisations” and indicating which Participant types are used as referrers on your matters. Once this is completed, Workzilla will be able to accurately identify referrers and populate the dashboard. Hopefully this makes building out your Christmas Card Lists that much easier moving forward.
The functionality allows for two layers of reporting: Referrer channel or individual referrer.

Bug Fixes
Smokeball Token Expiry causing data to go stale
Over the break many of our Smokeball clients didn’t log in, for obvious reasons, which caused their tokens to expire. This also caused the data update service to stop, which was unexpected. Smokeball has worked with us and, in concert we have rectified this problem, so it won’t happen in the future.
Unrealised Cashflow Exportable report not remembering the aged bracket
When you changed a filter on the exportable report after clicking an aged card on the UR Cashflow page, the page would then ‘forget’ the aged bracket and would return all results. This has been fixed.
We should have a new release out next week with some functionality we have been looking forward to for some time.
