260409.1 – Comparative Reporting (v0.2 Beta)

Hi Everyone,

Last week we quietly released a change that introduced comparative reporting to Workzilla, replacing the “Daily Performance” screens.

To find the new dashboard please go to Management > Comparative Reporting.

There you will see the “Daily Performance Page” has significantly changed.

How to use it

We have introduced a few new concepts here which we are trialing and on which we would love some feedback.

Caveat – Beta

Some of the concepts on this page are drafts we wanted to throw into the wild to see if people found them interesting, valuable, confusing or irritating. To that end this page should be considered in beta. If there is anything that doesn’t make sense to you please let us know. Our intention is that this page is eventually an easy to use, intuitive tool that helps you draw out high/low performance in comparing teams and people.

Category or Individual

We have the ability to see combined category and individual views of the data. By viewing the category you are viewing all of the selected staff performances combined against billable, fees invoiced etc. By selecting individual the charts will split and show a single chart for each individual with all of the selected categories displayed.

Comparisons

When viewing individuals you can now compare them by clicking “compare” on each of the charts. This will create a new section at the top of the page helping you to view the comparison of your selected team members.

We believe this will be helpful and will better help team leaders and firm owners to draw conclusions about performance in larger teams.

Delta comparison

When only two categories are selected the charts change. The individual charts show a dotted line which is the delta (difference) between the two values selected. The comparison chart will also change to compare the deltas.

Delta – Big is Bad

When looking at the delta of a persons performance between billables and collected, for instance, the larger the number the worse the performance. This is a little confusing, we admit, and probably won’t make it into the final design for this page. But we wanted to throw it in there to see if the idea itself had legs and we could iterate on it. Let us know what you think.

That’s it for this release, next week we hope to have something new and exciting to share.
