How to enable the Actionstep daily data extract and connect it to Workzilla for more precise data syncing.
Important
The Actionstep API does not include payment dates, part payment data, fee allocations, discounts, or other allocations. As a result, Workzilla cannot guarantee the accuracy of reporting until the daily data extract is enabled. Enable this as soon as possible after connecting Actionstep.
What you'll have at the end
The daily data extract is enabled in Actionstep, the archive password is saved in Workzilla, and Workzilla will use the extract as its data source from the first export onwards.
Part 1 — In Actionstep
1
Go to Admin > Integrations > Reporting Data Exporter Setup
2
Toggle Enable to On
If you are unsure whether enabling the data exporter affects your Actionstep subscription cost, check with your Actionstep representative before proceeding.
3
Set a ZIP file password
Choose a strong password and save it somewhere secure — you will need to enter it in Workzilla in the next steps.
4
Leave SQL file format set to Microsoft SQL Server
Do not change this setting. Workzilla requires Microsoft SQL Server format.
5
Save the settings
The first export runs at 2 am that night. Workzilla will begin using the file automatically once it becomes available.
Part 2 — In Workzilla
6
Go to Subscription Settings > Integrations
7
Enter your ZIP file password in the Set archive password field
8
Click Save
Workzilla will show "There is no archive available yet, please check back tomorrow" until the first export has run. This is expected — the connection is set up correctly.
The daily data extract is now configured. Workzilla will use the extract as its source of truth from the first available export, providing more precise data than the API sync alone.
