Set up a charge-out rate target
Steps to confirm charge-out rate data is in place and configure a target calculated from daily target hours and hourly charge-out rate.
What you'll have at the end
A fees-based target for one or more staff members, calculated from their charge-out rate and expected daily hours.

1Confirm a charge-out rate is saved for each staff memberCharge-out rates are set manually through Manage Users. Confirm the rate is current before proceeding.

2Navigate to Administration > Manage Targets

3Select the Individual Targets tab and click Add target

4Name the targetTarget name is the first field on the form and is optional. Leave it blank and the target is named automatically from its rule. Enter a name to show something plainer to the people reading it, or to mark a target as reporting-only.

5Select the staff member(s) the target applies to

6Choose the performance basisSelect either personal timesheet performance or matter performance, based on the staff member's role and how their work is tracked.

7Select the target metricChoose from billable fees, invoiced fees, collected fees, or collected fees excluding credits.

8Set "Calculated as" to Target hours x Hourly charge out rate

9Enter the daily target hoursWorkzilla calculates the dollar target automatically — daily hours × charge-out rate × working days in the period.

10Set the frequency and start monthChoose monthly, quarterly, or annually.

11Open Advanced to scope and adjust the targetSpecialisations — leave empty to include every matter type, or select one or more so that only figures from matters under those specialisations count toward the target. Target daily hours (stretch target) — an optional higher daily figure to aim at. Public Holidays and Leave — choose Reduce to lower the target value in the periods affected, or Spread to distribute the value across the remaining workdays.

13Confirm the target was createdNavigate to Management > Targets to verify the target appears correctly.
