Connect your Practice Management Software
Actionstep firms require an admin with subscriber rights. Smokeball firms require a firm owner. Once connected, Workzilla will begin populating your data. When the loading screen clears, you are ready to configure.

Get the most out of Workzilla on day one.

Set up the Actionstep daily data extract

Enables high-fidelity reporting. Do this before anything else.
Set up a team Optional
2 min per team
Teams are used for reporting, team targets, and controlling what team leaders can see. Set these up before inviting staff members so permissions are ready to apply.
Set up Xero integration Optional Xero
15 min
Enables salary syncing, leave data, and leave-adjusted targets. Set up before configuring targets if you plan to use leave reduction.
5 min per target rule
Targets can be based on flat values, salary multiples, or charge out rate multiples. Set up Xero first if you want leave-adjusted targets.
Do these second
Get your team set up and into the platform.
5–10 min total
Send invitations from Manage Users. Each staff member receives an email to set up their account.
Included in above
Controls what each staff member can see and access. Set permissions at the same time as sending invitations.
1 min per staff member
Required for accurate target tracking for part-time staff.
Do these when you have time
Fine-tune your setup for more precise reporting and targets.
5 min per target rule
Requires teams to be configured first.
1 min per staff member
Required if you want to set targets based on charge out rate multiples.
Add a salary to a staff member Optional if using Xero
1 min per staff member
Required for indicative profitability reporting and salary multiple targets. Skip if Xero is connected — salaries sync automatically.

Adjusts targets to account for approved leave. Requires Xero integration.
2 min per rule
Triggers alerts when matters go quiet. Most useful once your firm has a few weeks of data.

Maps your Actionstep referrer fields for use in reporting.
Done Your Workzilla account is configured and ready. Share the help centre with your team so they can get up to speed on their own dashboards.
